20 minute Timer

A 20 minute timer that starts the moment you press Start. Mechanical flip digits you can read from across the room, fullscreen mode for presentations, and a sound alert when time is up.

Already set to 20 minutes — just press Start

⚡Why use this timer

  • ✓Flip digits are legible from across a room — no squinting at a phone
  • ✓One click starts the timer, no account or download
  • ✓Fullscreen mode hides everything but the clock
  • ✓Sound alert plays the moment it hits zero
  • ✓Keeps running while you switch tabs
  • ✓Your last setting is remembered for next time

📖How to use the 20 minute timer

  1. 1The timer is already set to 20 minutes — press Start (or the space bar) to begin.
  2. 2Press Pause to stop the clock without losing your place, then Resume to continue.
  3. 3Press F for fullscreen if you are presenting or projecting the timer.
  4. 4Press R to reset back to 20 minutes and run it again.

Twenty minutes is the standard length of a presentation slot and the work interval in most HIIT protocols. Practise your talk once, end to end, and you know if it fits.

🔔Is this a 20 minute alarm clock?

Yes. A countdown that rings after 20 minutes is exactly what most people mean by a "20 minute alarm" — press Start and it rings when the digits reach zero. What it cannot do is ring at a specific time of day. If you need 7:00 tomorrow morning rather than "in 20 minutes", use the alarm clock: it takes a target time, keeps a label, and can snooze.

Words you could read
4,000
Metres you could walk

Seconds are the duration itself. Hours and the percentage are that same duration divided by 3,600. The word count assumes 200 words a minute of silent reading; the distance assumes 80 metres a minute of walking.

Frequently asked questions

Is this 20 minute timer free?

Yes. The timer is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded.

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. The countdown is driven by the clock, not by animation frames, so it keeps correct time while the tab is in the background. The flip animation catches up when you come back.

Can I change the time once the countdown has started?

Press Pause, then Reset to return to 20 minutes. To use a different length, pick a preset under the clock or type a new time with Set Time.

Will I hear an alert when the 20 minute is up?

Yes. A sound alert plays when the countdown reaches zero. You can turn it off, or enable auto-repeat, from the settings panel in the header.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The flip digits scale down to fit narrow screens, and fullscreen mode works on mobile browsers too.
